At the core of what we do is fighting fires from structurel fires to brush fires to vehicle fires. Any fire that threatens life, property or our ecosystem, we're specially trained and equipped to fight. But firefighters do a whole lot more. Whether it's vehicle extrication, water rescue, or setting up a landing zone—we're trained and ready.
The vast majority of calls we respond to are are Emergency Medical calls. Our EMT's are available 24/7 to respond to medical and trauma emergencies and our ambulance is fully equipped to provide BLS medical response and hospital transport.
Our rescue operations combine unique training as firefighters and EMT's for rescue missions from the Shawanagunk mountains to the Wallkill River. Whether it's a fallen climber or hiker, a skydiver that's made a hard landing or a dog fallen through the ice, we're there to usher the patient to safety and definitive medical care.
Our cadet program enables those 15-18 to begin volunteering with the department under the supervision of our Cadet Program Directions.
