For more than a century, the Gardiner Fire Department has been responding to fire emergencies in our town. In 1972, we added our rescue squad with volunteer EMT's responding to medical emergencies, traffic accidents, and rescue operations. We're proud to be a part of the more than 25,000 volunteer fire departments across the country.
Sixty-five percent of all firefighters in the U.S. are volunteers, which means the bulk of emergency response depends on the sacrifices of everyday citizens. We'd love to add you to our team of growing volunteers. No experience required. We provide free New York State sponsored training. Reach out today, to learn how you can join today.
As a 100% Volunteer Fire and EMS Agency, we rely on committed members willing to train, drill and respond when the time comes. We accept applications year-round. Our membership types include Firefighter, EMT, Firefighter & EMT, Cadet and Associate Member. No training or experience is required. We offer free training and certifications through New York State for Fire and Rescue Certifications, and third-party providers for EMT Certifications. See below for upcoming events and training. In most cases, we invite the public to attend our drills and meeting to observe. Visitors will be kept at a safe distance and are not permitted to participate, but are more than welcome to observe, interact with our members, and ask questions.
